The Longing
She searched desperately for a new family, a new mother. It was heartbreaking for her to watch friends with their parents, living the life she longed for. In this painting, her future mother appears with her sons — so close, yet just out of reach. She painted herself as a brown horse among the white ones, a symbol of longing, of being different, yet still searching for a place to belong.
